Happy 100th birthday, United Way for Southeastern Michigan

100 years ago, a Boeing aircraft took flight for the first time, Coca-Cola created its secret formula we still guzzle today and Jeannette Rankin was the first woman elected to Congress. And in the Motor City, the Detroit Community Union (now known as United Way for Southeastern Michigan) was created. In that time, United Way has become the region’s unifier, bringing private, nonprofit and public partners together in an effort to respond to the community’s most pressing challenges.

The Network teaches Detroit students the value of connection

The Network is a program partnership between Quicken Loans and the United Way for Southeastern Michigan based in two local Detroit schools, Frank Cody High School and Osborn College Preparatory Academy. Now celebrating four years, The Network continues to provide college and career preparation to kids in high school, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real world application.
